A movie worth waiting !!
A much awaited movie of this year Dangal finally
came to cinemas- rocking , making it one of the best movies of year 2016. While
Aamir khan plays a seemingly supportive role but his effect is larger than a
life on characters.
What inspires Mahaveer
Singh to train her daughters ?
Being national champion in wrestling and
fighting with insecurities he decided to leave wrestling and do a job but
always stung up with desire to win a medal for India . Mahavir Phogat (Aamir
khan) longs for a son who could complete his dream , but he got daughters , he
tried nuskhas (Recipies) given by villagers for a son but to no effect , this
broke his spirits ,until a day girl beat up guys teasing them, He decides to
train them hard and make a champion.
Many will argue that this too is patriarchal
movie where a male presses his choices on females and did not asks for their
choice. Movie itself gave an answer to them that instead of representing women
mere as household item at least he thought giving his daughters a life and
goal.
How Dangal raises topic of
women empowerment ?
Movie rightly depicts the taboo formed around
women for breaking the barriers and competing with men. Male dominated society
Dangals are never formed to fight girls in these. Once a girl is in dangal
people are just there to wish if they can see anything apart from dangal prying
eyes were all on her lewd comments were also there, but dhakkad chori ( Gritty
girl) gave them a fitting reply by braving the odds and winning.
What are the issues in
indian sports structure ?
While Dangal depicts the story of a gritty girl
and crazy father’s fight for a gold for India, it rightly pulls out the cord
where India aches, the sports structure. Firstly bureaucracy denied Aamir khaan
a chance of world medal , now the same stands in a way of his daughter. Movie
clearly shows that Indians are OK with ordinary. Indians wish bring
medal home no matter which but never aims to say that they will bring a gold.
Even previous world no. 1 boxer recently quoted that sports authority comes
into wake only one or two months prior to an event before that no one cares
about players or their games. Lack of proper training , proper strategy marks
the Indian players failure at international levels.
Finally Real Dangal is not
in the Arena !! where is it ?
Dangal is not what the girl fight in ring ,
Dangal is what she fights outside the ring, with society , with denial mode
bureaucracy , with lack of facilities . Dangal is being fought all around us in
this very moment and Mahaveer singh can only teach you how to fight , its only
you who have to fight and win in this fight of survival.
Hope this movie inspires many Geetas and
Babeetas , to fight dangal in their life for whatever goal they wish to
achieve and emerge victorious.
